Mission Statement

The Jewett City DPU is a locally owned, not-for-profit utility that exists to provide reliable, high quality electric and wastewater services to the community in which we serve. By doing so we would expect to make Jewett City a better place to live, work and do business.

Brief history

The Jewett City DPU has been in existence since 1897. We belong to the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative, from whom we purchase power. We are members of the Northeast Public Power Association and the American Public Power Association.

It is typical on a yearly basis for the Jewett City DPU to contribute financially to the Borough of Jewett City to help stabilize the tax rate.

“This institution is an equal opportunity provider and employer.”
